End of Day Pool Closure
Holmes Run Pool closes PROMPTLY at the end of each day so ALL members must depart BEFORE closing time. To ensure that the facilities and grounds can close on time, ALL swimmers must be out of the Upper, Lower, and Wading Pools at least 15 minutes before the closing.
Pool Closures
When pool closures occur due to pool cleaning or scheduled swim programs, the pool grounds and wading pool are unaffected and remain open to members according to regular hours of operation.
Hourly Rest Periods
ALL swimmers under the age of 16 must be out of the Upper, Lower, and Wading Pools for the last 10 minutes of each hour.
Adult Only Periods
The Upper Pool is for adults only (at least 16 years of age) on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Swim Programs
Scheduled swim programs—such as swim team, lessons, and summer camp—may require the temporary closure of the upper or lower pools. During these closures, the wading pool and surrounding grounds remain fully open to members. Program schedules are posted on the Pool Schedule page.
Pool Cleaning
Upper pool is closed for cleaning during the first hour on T/R. Lower pool is closed for cleaning during the first hour on M/W/F.
Inclement Weather
The pool closes when the temperature falls below 70 or for 30 minutes when thunder is heard. During a rainstorm, the pools will be closed if the lifeguard cannot clearly see the bottom of the pool.
At the sound of thunder, everyone, including lifeguards, must vacate the water, pool decks, and the pool grounds and remain clear of these areas for a period of no less than 30 minutes from the last time thunder is heard. Lifeguards will blow the whistle, announce thunder, and oversee the clearing of these areas. All members of the pool, and their guests, should go to their respective cars to wait out the thunder delay. Members who have walked to the pool should call for a ride home and may wait in the Upper Pool House by the front desk for their ride. No one may use the showers, due to the threat of lightning.
Failing to follow the instructions of the pool manager or lifeguards is a violation of HRARA Rules. Members who fail to cooperate will be reported by the lifeguards to the Operations Chair at the next opportunity.

Swim Team
Evening practice is held in the upper pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 – 7:15 pm.
B Meets are held in the lower pool on Mondays from 4:00 pm to closing.
A Meets are held in the lower pool on Saturdays from opening to 1:00 pm.

Swim Lessons
Lessons occur in the upper pool. They may occupy up to two lanes during regular hours or one lane during peak hours. Peak hours are 5:00 – 6:30 pm on weekdays and 9:00 am – 11:00 pm on the weekend.
Water Aerobics
Sessions are held in the deep end of the lower pool on Sundays from 12:15 pm – 1:15 pm and Wednesdays from 6:15 pm – 7:15 pm.
Summer Camp
The upper and lower pools are closed to members while summer camp swim lessons are in session. During summer camp open swim, members may swim in the lower pool with summer camp swimmers, while the upper pool and wading pool are available for members only. The wading pool, lawn area, and wooden decks are open to members as usual.
